FOUR batsmen made half-centuries for Huntspill and District as they beat Fitzhead by 121 runs on Saturday.

Steve Eley (65), Jake Randall (55), Dan Tippetts (52) and Shaun Lismore (52) all reached the milestone as Huntspill amassed 275 from their 45 overs. In reply, Fitzhead could only manage 154 thanks to 4-74 from D Tippetts, who followed up his fifty with a fine bowling display.

Huntspill captain Matt Counsell won the toss and had no hesitation in batting first on a fast and bouncy track.

Steve Eley got Huntspill off to a flying start, hitting his first four balls for four and he continued to play a wide variety of shots all around the ground as the Fitzhead attack had no answer to him.

Last week's hero Sam Lillycrop fell cheaply with the score on 48 and Cavill went next ball, but the arrival of 15-year-old Jake Randall steadied the ship.

Eley continued on his merry way and reached his fifty from just 20 balls. But he fell with the score on 76 for a blistering 65 off 28 balls.

Huntspill's innings could have gone either way at this point, but Randall showed great maturity to keep the scoreboard ticking over.

Tippetts made 52 before he was run out by a direct hit, but Randall stood firm and was soon bringing up a classy half century.

Lismore played an aggressive innings and his half-century carried Huntspill to a competitive 275 from 45 overs.

Fitzhead also got off to a flying start thanks to L Burns (73), who played aggressively throughout his innings in pursuit of the large total.

Tippetts continued his good day removing S Bellringer for 11 with an expertly disguised slower ball.

He soon had R Bellringer caught at point by Eley.

Burns remained the only hope for Fitzhead and he raced past 50 as he took on a barrage of short pitch bowling, but this proved to be his down fall when he miscued back to Tippetts for 73.

This signalled the end for the visitors with Tippetts taking a further wicket to finish with 4-73, but it was Lismore who continued his fine recent form with the ball by ripping through the remaining Fitzhead order to take 3-7 off 5.3 overs, as the visitors finished on 154 all out.

Next week Huntspill face Mark & will look forward to a far less fiery game.
