BURNHAM secured third spot in Division 3 of the Somerset Cricket League with a comfortable seven-wicket victory over Wedmore on Saturday.
Rob Driver put in a fine all-round performance for Burnham; taking 4-25 to help bowl Wedmore out for just 87, before scoring 39 not out to see his side home.
Batting first, Wedmore’s innings never got going as Driver and Brian Brogden (4-18) made scoring difficult some accurate and threatening bowling. The wickets tumbled throughout, with only I Harris (20) and P Patch (16) managing anything for Wedmore.
Driver cleaned up the lower-order to grab his third and fourth wickets of the afternoon, as the innings closed on 87 all out.
The Burnham chase looked to be a straight forward one, and it certainly went as expected. Despite losing three wickets early on, Driver (39not) and Dalrymple (20not) added 40 for the fourth wicket as Burnham cruised to victory with seven wickets and some 20 overs to spare.
Score: Wedmore 187 all out, Burnham 189-3.
