Lympsham Sunday Development XI 223-4 North Petherton 221

LYMPSHAM secured full points on Sunday with a six-wicket victory over North Petherton courtesy of a superb all-round display from Jack Luff.

Luff struck 80 with the bat, before claiming a hat-trick to fire Lympsham to an emphatic win.

Liam Morris (62no) saw Lympsham over the finish line, as they successfully chased down North Petherton’s 221 all out inside 31 overs.

Captain Tom Gooding won the toss and put North Petherton into bat and the opening pair of Lloyd Irish (42) and Sam Briffett (20) put on 55 before Matt Mitchell (1-32) got the first wicket.

This brought T. Williams (80) to the crease, who started to hit the Lympsham bowlers to all corners of the ground.

Lympsham continued to take wickets with Jules Froud (1-46), Adam Micklewright (1-25), C. Scriven (2-25) and T. Gooding (1-19) in fine form, but North Petherton were still in control on 188 off 29 overs.

The introduction of Jack Luff (4-15) saw North Petherton all out for 221 off 35.2 overs.

In reply Lympsham lost their two openers G. Hutton (7) and Felix Grandfield (4) by the fourth over, but Max Gregory (34) and Luff put on a splendid partnership of 86 before Gregory was caught near the boundary.

Liam Morris joined Luff and they pushed the score to 136 before Luff was caught trying to clear a boundary tree for a superb 80.

Gooding joined Morris (62no) and they set about seeing Lympsham over the finishing line, Morris batting exceptionally well, supported by Gooding (29no)
