Taunton St Andrews 130-8 beat Lympsham Sunday Development XI 128 by two wickets

LYMPSHAM’S batsman had an off day as they crashed to a two-wicket defeat to Taunton St Andrews on Sunday.

After winning the toss and electing to bat Lympsham struggled early on losing both openers in quick succession.

Lympsham continued to lose wickets at regular intervals and were 61-5 off 17 overs with Wadham and Bell doing the damage for St Andrews.

Matt Mitchell (42) and Tom Gooding (28) steadied the ship in the middle order, but once both were out the three remaining batsmen only managed a further four runs.

Lympsham finished on 128 all out with Deven Bell the pick of the Taunton bowlers with 5-18.

In response, Lympsham bowled tightly with Tom Ferns (1-21) and Tom Gooding (2- 9) getting the early breakthroughs to leave Taunton on 27-3.

Jack Luff (5-18) then took the middle order apart with five quick wickets, leaving Taunton on 68-8, but the partnership of Wadham and Woodland saw Taunton comfortably home with nine overs to spare.
