Burnham 184-8 beat North Newton 181-7 by two wickets
FOUR wickets from Brian Brogden and a half-century from Rob Driver inspired Burnham to a narrow two-wicket win on Saturday.
Brogden took 4-56 from 12 overs to help restrict North Newton to 181-7 batting first, before Driver (56) and Mike Green (23no) ensured Burnham reached their target with 13 balls to spare.
James Annison made early inroads for Burnham, dismissing J Cook for 12, before Brogden claimed his first victim in J Stone (8).
A Jenkins (67) was the mainstay of the Newton innings and was well supported by J Sellick (30) and A Giradin (28no).
Toby Keast's leg-spin also claimed 2-45 from 11 overs as Burnham were set 182 to win.
Jim Bloodworth fell early in the hosts' chase, but Harris (27) and Driver (56) rebuilt to take the score past 50.
Brad House (20), Ed Booth (11) and D Worthington (21) all chipped in to take Burnham closer to their target, but when all three were dismissed and Tipler followed soon after, Burnham were in danger of wasting their good work with the ball.
But Green and Annison held their nerve to see their side over the line with just over two overs to spare, to seal a third win of the season for Burnham.
Burnham travel to bottom side Kilve on Saturday, before hosting Huish and Langport the following week.
