Wedmore 184-9 beat Cheddar 79 by 105 runs
WEDMORE cruised to a 105-run triumph over Cheddar on Saturday, thanks mainly to four wickets from J Burgess.
Burgess took 4-33 as Cheddar were dismissed for just 79 in reply to Wedmore’s 184-9.
Earlier, Phil Patch scored 50 not out for Wedmore and J Burgess and D Haining each scored 24.
Batting first, Wedmore lost two early wickets as M Wall (17) and S Morris (4) fell cheaply to the bowling of N Jarman (2-45).
Boley (10) also fell relatively cheaply, before Haining, Burgess and Patch helped Wedmore to a competitive total.
Boley (2-10) took two early wickets in an economical opening spell, while first change bowler I Harris (2-11) also kept things tight.
But Burgess’ spell was the turning point as he tore through the middle order with four wickets in an 11 over spell, to complete a commanding win for Wedmore.
