BURNHAM tied their second match in four weeks in a hard fought match with Middlezoy.

Burnham batted first but only Adam Martin (16) had much success before he was caught and bowled by Peppard for 16.

Clifton then came to the crease and was the mainstay of the innings hitting powerful pulls cuts and drives to all parts of the ground in dominant knock of 72.

Duncan Harvey had to retire with a side strain for 11 and Darren Aston was bowled by a shooter for only a single.

Burnham had a reasonable start at 137-5 and Col Connick and Lee Coles both made 26 in a good stand of 58 before both were out in the penultimate over as Burnham closed on 208-8.

The pick of the Middlezoy attack were spinner Peppard and the lively seam up of Grant Purchase.

Middlezoy openers Keith and Matravers got off to a flyer before Keith was caught behind off Andy Birkett for 36 an innings of aggression.

Matravers and Purchase continued to accumulate as James Annison, Darren Aston and Birkett could make no further inroads.

Middlezoy were cruising at 151-1 but then Martin broke through having Matravers caught by Aston for 41 and then crucially in his next over Purchase brilliantly caught by Ben Adams at cover for a superb 55.

This sparked a collapse as Martin (3-43) and Tasker (4-29) ran through the Middlezoy line up to close the gap between the teams.

Middlezoy needed two off five balls to win but Martin held his nerve with four dot balls and then a single off the last ball levelled the scores.
