RAILWAY Burtle skittler Alan Eastment was in spectacular form at the Railway Inn in Division 3 of the Highbridge & District Skittles League.

He scored a brilliant total of 94 which included five spares and two nines, finishing 33 pins ahead of any of his teammates.

And, without him, the Burtle would certainly have lost as they won by 25.

Meanwhile, at the top of the division, the top two lost.

Leaders Nobby’s One were surprisingly beaten by a rejuvenated Berrow Hotel team at the Crown Inn, going down by 16, with Alan Bagg top scoring with 70 for the Hotel.

And Alleycats inflicted an 18-pin defeat over second place team Why Try? at the Coopers Hotel.

Match of the night was at the Lighthouse Inn in Division 2, where Off The Rails and Four Finger Club finished on 500 a piece to share the spoils. It was a topsy-turvey match, two players top scoring with 73 – Bruce Hardwidge for the Rails and Colin Fouracres for the Club.

At the top, Social Club’s Roger Quick continued his purple streak: he scored 82 at the Berrow Club as his team defeated Crown Criminals by 14.

Odds & Ends remain in second place after a good performance at the Pawlett Legion, where they scored a total of 512, to leave Misfits trailing by 47.

Harry Symis 81 and Jerry Bird 83 did the damage.

Also in the division, Wanderers skittler Robbie Counsell started with a 24 double flopper at the Basonbridge Inn, but his team could still only muster a hand down of 65! And things didn’t get any better as they went down by 29 to Mauricemen.

In Division 4, top-ofthe- table Outsiders defeated Top House by 21 at the Bristol Bridge, Bob Stiddard starting with 22 double flopper for the winners.

Outcasts remain in second after they defeated Rafascals at Ritz Social Club by 58, Tony Charalamous scoring 81 and Steve Crook 76.

In Division 1, Bombers scored a huge total of 544 at the Bridge which left the unfortunate Snurgers trailing in their wake by 70. Mike Galley and Mark Criddle scored 79 a piece, Ernie King was only a pin behind, and Mr Reliable Barry Vincent chipped in with 73.

Bombers remain six points clear of Tryer’s and Gunners.

Tryer’s defeated The Lads by 28 after pulling 26 on the last hand.

Mark Hembury started with a 23 double flopper but had very little else, which enabled Wayne Lonsdale to take the cue with 76.

Steamers have now lost their last four matches after they were defeated by Gunners at the Victoria Hotel, going down by fives. Gunners were indebted to Phil Bamsey’s 70 and Lee Trumper’s 75.
