Burnham 4, Taunton Civil Service 0

AMY Edmundson’s hat-trick helped Burnham to an emphatic 4-0 victory over Taunton Civil Service on Saturday.

Kerry Harvey was also on the score sheet at the home side cruised to the win in convincing fashion.

The front three put in a particularly impressive performance with their sublime passing and movement, which created chance after chance for the team.

Kerry Harvey opened the scoring and went on to claim player of the match as she dazzled her way through the away defence time and time again.

She slotted home at the far post after good work along the left by Ali Evely and June England, and a great reverse pass from Amy Edmundson.

Edmundson doubled the lead after a quick ball out of defence from Sam Course found Harvey who returned the favour by pulling the ball back for Edmundson to sweep in.

Burnham looked composed at the back with Course, Emma Ballard and Sarah Johnson showing great understanding and calmness under pressure as they repelled everything TCS threw at them – ‘keeper Vicky Dyer was rarely troubled.

The start of the second half proved to be the most testing for the blues as TCS tried to get back into the game.

The midfield worked really hard to close down their threat and turn defence into attack.

Carly Bush went close to getting on the score sheet with a couple of driving runs into the D and Louise Peace was first to every loose ball as she supported strongly down the right.

It was Edmundson that benefitted the most as she again found herself in space at the top of the D and coolly struck in her second and Burnham’s third.

She completed her hat-trick minutes later with a carbon copy of her first goal, as Harvey again provided the pin point cross for her.

Burnham deserved a fifth goal with the move of the match, as England, Edmundson and Harvey cut open the visitors’ defence with some scintillating one touch passing, but they had to make do with a short corner from it.

But the game had been well & truly won by then. POM: Kerry Harvey Last Training session 24/3/14 Last match v White Eagles II (away) on 29/3/14 Thanks to our sponsor The Rosewood PH for our amazing refreshments all season.
