Sedgemoor Two

Burnham 5, ECVH 0

BURNHAM continue to add to their ‘goals for' column as this week they hit ECVH for five.

Fielding a young team who were positive from the start, Burnham got into their stride quickly and had the match won by half time.

Imogen Wright and Jessie Woodberry are growing in confidence with every game and had good games in midfield. They kept the blues going with quickly taken free hits and their tireless running.

It was a ball from the back from Sam Course that set up the first goal - June England latching onto it and crossing for Kerry Harvey to get on the score sheet.

Harvey doubled her tally moments later and is now getting the goals that her phenomenal work rate each match deserves. She was excellent throughout and also set up the third.

Her shot was saved but England was on hand to help it over the line.

Burnham's passing was impressive and they used the pitch well to switch play and tire out their opponents.

Captain Amy Edmundson fired in the fourth and Burnham were looking comfortable at the interval.

Although the intensity may have dropped during the second half and the blues only got one more goal, they rarely looked troubled.

Jenna Bushell was strong and decisive in defence making important tackles and Chelsea Fisher made sure the visitors did not get any clear strikes at goal by bravely charging down and blocking each of their penalty corners.

On the rare occasion ECVH did breach the blues defence GK Vicki Morley used all of her 6ft+ frame to make a finger tip save to protect her clean sheet.

Edmundson finished off the scoring with a sweet deflection from Ali Evely's fierce shot that capped off a fine day for the blues. POM: Kerry Harvey Next weekend, Burnham are away to Minehead.
