APPLECATCHERS finished the season as they started, by losing the match, after leading Division 2 of the Burnham, Highbridge & District Ladies Skittles League all season.
Having to play a sergeant major, they met Burnham United at The Orchard and saw their hopes of division victory fade as they were soundly beaten by 45 pins.
A play-off for division winners and runners-up will be arranged in due course.
Coasters saw off Red Devils and Coopers Boozers did the same to Bombers. Wanderers, finishing third, fell to stablemates Old Railway by 20.
Premier Division Lightbulbs clinched the championship after beating Eight Belles by 14 at the Lighthouse Inn.
Nitwits took runnersup after a low-scoring game at the George Hotel ended with an 11- pin victory over visitors Country Girls.
Maybee’s finished third after they saw off Hotshots by 38.
Down to Division 1 for next season go Bristols, who have struggled all season, joined by Blinders, who lost to Crown Jewels by six.
The Division 1 title went Victoria Vixens, who had a bye this week. Runners-up Wayward Wanderers were gifted the points after Berrow Club B were unable to field a team. Cannonballs fell at the last hurdle: needing to win their last match they found themselves outplayed by Berrow Breezers.
Down to Division 2 go Tri-ards and Berrow Club B.
