SIXTEEN teams turned out on Sunday for the AGM Scramble at Brean which precluded the meeting, when Andy Thomas took over from Stuart Wills as captain.

Thomas almost marked his big day with a win, but his trio including Wills and Martyn Cahill were beaten by an excellent score from Phil Aspinall, Trevor Pitt and Vic Burnell.

They scored a very impressive gross 57 over the 15 holes and when their 9.5 handicap allowance was taken off they won by almost two strokes from Thomas, 'regular bridesmaid' Wills and Cahill.

Taking third spot just .1 of a stroke further back was, Thomas's new captain elect, David Porter who was joined by Phil Hodgson and Jeff Read.

Following the golf in cold but very pleasant winter sunshine the members convened in the clubhouse for the AGM which ran smoothly and ended with Andy Thomas taking over a captain for 2016.

In his acceptance speech he announced that his chosen charity for the year would be Prostate Cancer and his Captain's Charity Day would take place on Friday, May 13. More details of this event will follow in due course.

Murray Parsons was victorious over a small field in Saturday's Winter League round.

With the cold and damp weather putting many off he scored 38pts to win by three from Matt Haskins.

Again no two's were scored so the next event will see a triple rollover of the pot.
