THIS year is the 10th anniversary of the Bridgwater Railway Club’s 4-a-Side Charity Skittle Competition.

Starting in June, matches will be played mainly on a Thursday or Friday evening.

This competition is kindly sponsored by Moles Brewery so a £100 top prize is guaranteed in addition to three other prizes which include money for the best Ladies & Mixed teams.

The charity receiving support is The Musgrove Leukaemic Group – in the last nine years the event has raised around £2,500 for them and would like to make it a further £500 this year, but that can only be done through teams paying their £8 entry fee.

Entry forms can be obtained from the Railway Club bar or can be downloaded from bridgwaterskittleleague.co.uk or bridgwatertownanddistrictskittleleague.co.uk.

Every team will play a minimum of three games, as it is played similar to football’s Champions League.

When all the entries are in at the end of April a draw is made placing teams in groups and all play one another; depending on how many teams have entered, the competition goes onto the last 16 or last eight.

It then becomes a knock-out, plus the Ladies & Mixed have their own competition where they all play, again depending on how many entries for each are in as to whether they all play one another, and top of the league wins – or it will be played on a group basis, with the group winners playing a final.
