YOUNG netball stars from across Somerset have propelled Taunton to the Under-15 national finals after an enormously successful south of England competition.
Three players from the team – Anna Chojnacka, Catherine Tolley and Charlotte Small – travel from The King Alfred School, Highbridge.
The team competed in four pool games, scoring 2-0 victories over Richmond B (London), Westminster (London), Bishop of Llandaff (Cardiff) and Ashcombe (Dorking).
As group winner they progressed to the semi-finals, where they overcame White Eagles (London), again with a 2-0 result.
Both semi-final winners – Taunton and Richmond ‘A’ – progress to the national finals on May 14, in Loughborough.
There they will be joined by the champions of north and central England, the six-team tournament deciding the national champion.
Taunton also took part in the Under-16 competition this year, coming joint seventh in the country at that level and taking that experience into their most recent event.
Junior head coach Jurek Jankowski said: “It was truly a fantastic day where small town Taunton Volleyball competed against city-based teams, and we thrashed all of them.”
