TREVOR Guy produced a stunning round to take the Super Series Bogey competition played at Brean Golf Club on Easter Sunday.

The course had dried sufficiently from the deluge of Good Friday to allow the event to be played and scoring was very impressive.

Guy handed in a superb score of +8 which would normally be expected to warrant a comfortable victory but in the end his winning margin was just one from Phil Hodgson.

Hodgson broke par by one to run the winner close courtesy of a final hole birdie. Third place went to Eamonn Wynne on +4.

Mike Carter’s challenge for the 2018 Somerset Bowl fell at the first hurdle at Clevedon on Sunday.

His troops battled gamely but went down by 3-2 against Bath GC.

THE Seniors Section at Enmore Park Golf Club is a friendly and active part of the club, with approximately 200 members.

The section meets on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and, once a month, the section runs a qualifying competition.

Recently, a ‘roll-up’ on Tuesdays and Thursdays has been arranged, and any new senior member is very welcome to join the group.

During the summer, some 50 ‘friendly matches’ against clubs from Somerset, Devon, Dorset and Gloucestershire are played.

Competitions that bring visitors and teams to Enmore are the ‘Open’ and the ‘Quantock Stag Trophy’.

A ‘Seniors Away Day’ also takes place each year, visiting the likes of Launceston, Farrington, Stover, Dainton Park and Teignmouth.

Also at Enmore, the Junior Talent Spotting Day takes place next Sunday, April 15, from 11am.

This is the club’s key event to encourage new and existing young players to join its junior section.
