BURNHAM Seniors took on rivals Isle of Wedmore at Tall Pines in the third round of the Seniors Somerset Bowl.

The weather was overcast but dry and the course was in great condition, although it played longer than its 6,000 yards.

Despite most Burnham pairs being behind after the front nine holes, they eventually ran out comfortable winners with four matches won and one halved.

The winning pairs were Robin Griffiths and Graham Gregg, Brian Colome and Clive Johnstone, Gordon Mackay and Nick Agar, Peter Amos and Andy Holley with Alex Kidd and Steve Mercer getting the half.

This win puts Burnham into the Semi-Final of the Seniors Somerset Bowl.

The venue and opponents are not yet known.

Burnham and Berrow member, Thomas Burley, has won the 54-hole stroke play English Mid-Amateur Logan Trophy after a sudden death play-off with Neill Williams of Walton Heath.

Thomas carded rounds of 74 and 75 before a sensational final round of 67 to get himself into a play-off.
