SOMERSET lost to Surrey by 14 runs at the County Ground in the T20 Blast this afternoon.

The Cidermen looked slight favourites when they restricted to Surrey to 173-7 on a glorious afternoon, with only Jason Roy (64) making a score of note.

Marcus Trescothick and Craig Kieswetter began the reply at a rate of knots but Somerset suffered a setback when Trescothick was run out with the score on 27.

Kieswetter (61) continued to look in top form and raced his way to 50 in tandem with Alviro Petersen (23).

But Surrey kept up the pressure, Kieswetter became becalmed, and Somerset gradually lost their way.

By the 15th over only something special was going to save them.
