SOMERSET Rebels will have to do without captain Jason Doyle when Scunthorpe Scorpions visit the Oaktree Arena on Friday night (7.30pm).

Doyle is required to ride for his Elite League side Birmingham Brummies, who have first call on the rider due to the Rebels match being a rearranged one.

Scunthorpe are in the same situation, and will also be without their No.1 Josh Auty.

Somerset will bring in Peterborough's Patrick Hougard as a guest replacement for Doyle, and also hope to welcome back injured duo Stefan Nielsen and Tom Perry.

The Rebels are keen to build on an impressive six-point haul last weekend that gave their Premier League play-off chances a real boost.

Team manager Garry May said: "After such excellent work at the weekend in picking up those three away points, we must not let all that hard work to waste.

"It is imperative that we gain all three league points - not just from Friday night’s match against Scunthorpe, but in all of our remaining home matches.

“Scunthorpe will be out for revenge after we beat them at their place earlier in the season but, with the way our boys are riding at the moment, it could well be another cracker of a meeting."

Rebels fans are being advised that programme for Friday’s meeting will be the ones produced for the original attempt to stage the meeting back in May, but with an updated race card.

The programmes will be sold for £1, rather than the usual price of £2.50.
