THE Oaktree Arena, home of the Somerset rebels, will no longer be allowed to stage top-flight speedway from next year, unless vital fudning can be found for the implementation of a compulsory safety fence.
New British Speedway Association rules require all professional racing tracks in the UK to have safety fences to protect riders, from 2014.
An urgent fundraising effort is now underway to try and secure the £30,000 required for the fence.
£6,000 has alreday been raised and the Rebels plan to hold a golf day, celebrity darts evening and auction.
