FRESH from their success in the Knock-Out Cup Final against Rye House, the Somerset Rebels face a crucial week of action as they turn their attentions back to the League Championship, with three Play-Off matches in four days.

The meetings will determine whether or not they will be contesting the Premier League Play-Off Grand Final.

They first travel to Redcar on Thursday night (October 10) for the re-staging of last week's postponed fixture, before heading back to the Oaktree Arena for the following night’s home match against Newcastle.

The two sides then reconvening back on Tyneside on Sunday evening for what is scheduled to be the final match in Somerset’s Play-Off Semi-Final group.

With the 3 clubs all having won their opening home matches, any points gained by Somerset from their visit to Redcar on Thursday would do their chances of qualifying for the Grand Final no harm at all.

But irrespective of the outcome of that match, it is vital that the Rebels take all three points from the following day’s home match against Newcastle, ahead of the return fixture at Brough Park on Sunday evening.

Team manager Garry May said: “We have allowed ourselves a moment of celebration in winning the KO Cup, but we have to push that to the back of our minds now so that we are fully focussed on the matches against Redcar and Newcastle.”

“Whatever happens at Redcar on Thursday, we will still need to beat Newcastle at home on Friday, the more points we beat them by the better, so we really need the Somerset fans to get down to the Oaktree Arena on Friday night to get right behind the boys in what could well be a season-defining match for us.”
