THE SOMERSET Rebels will bid to make club history tomorrow night (Monday) when they contest the second leg of the Premier League Championship Final at the Oaktree Arena against the Edinburgh Monarch.

Somerset have never won a League Championship title and will need to overcome a two-point deficit if they are to claim a maiden Championship crown.

The club have twice finished as runners-up, in 2008 and 2012.

Team manager Garry May is relishing the occasion. He said:

“We may only be 2 points behind, but those points still have to be won, and Edinburgh will be going all out to defend that lead, so nothing can be taken for granted.

“So what we really need is for all the Rebels fans to get down to the Oaktree Arena on Monday night and for one last time this year to get right behind the boys as they look to write another chapter in the history of the club.”

Monday’s action is scheduled to get underway at the usual start time of 7.30pm (turnstiles opening at 5.30pm), with the usual end-of-season firework display afterwards - but should the weather intervene, then arrangements have been made to re-stage the match the following night, Tuesday October 29.

Fans who use the M5 motorway in order to get to the Oaktree Arena are also advised that major roadworks on the stretch between the junctions for Weston-super-Mare (junction 21) and Burnham-on-Sea (junction 22) that are due to start today (Sunday), could cause delays due to lane closures and speed restrictions in both directions, and those fans are therefore advised to perhaps allow more time than usual when planning their journey’s to the track.
