IT is a return to Premier League action tomorrow for the Somerset Rebels as they face the Newcastle Diamonds at the Oaktree Arena.

The Rebels will be looking to put last Friday’s disappointment of just missing out on retaining their Premier League Pairs title behind them, and there will be no better way of doing that than by claiming maximum league points against the Diamonds.

Friday’s match will be Newcastle’s second visit to the Oaktree Arena this season after the Rebels ran out comfortable 59-34 winners earlier in the year.

Somerset will be buoyed with the news that Pontus Aspgren is fit to return to the side, having been out injured since breaking a bone in his hand last month.

Somerset team manager Garry May said: “While losing out in the final of last Friday’s Pairs Championship is an obvious disappointment we must put that behind us and concentrate on picking up maximum league points from our home match against Newcastle before we head up to Workington the next day to face the Comets.

“Due to the weather and the Pairs Championship the guys have had quite a break away from racing here at the Oaktree Arena, so they’ll be raring to go come tapes up on Friday night.”
