THE Somerset Rebels now know exactly what they need to do when they face Ipswich at the Oaktree Arena on Friday night if they are to qualify for their third Premier League Championship grand final in as many years.

With Ipswich losing at Scunthorpe on Friday evening 49-41, it means Somerset need to beat the Witches by seven points or more this Friday to top their semi-final group and book a place in the grand final against Edinburgh.

The two clubs contested the 2013 final with Somerset coming out on top to win their maiden league championship.

Somerset are hopeful that Charles Wright and club captain Olly Allen will have made full recoveries from knocks which saw them withdraw from the the Rebels’ recent matches against Scunthorpe and Ipswich respectively.

However, they continue to be without their Australian teenage star Brady Kurtz, who is still out of action thanks to a broken arm.

Somerset Rebels promoter Debbie Hancock said: “Apart from the grand final itself matches don’t come much bigger than this.

“Friday night is a must win match for us, so the rally call is for all Rebels fans to get down to the Oaktree on Friday and get behind the team as they bid to qualify for what would be an unprecedented third successive grand final.”
