THE Somerset Rebels have announced a ‘glamour match’ against 2014 Elite League Champions Poole Pirates, to open their 2015 season.

The Pirates head to the Oaktree Arena in a special ‘one-off’ challenge match on Friday, March 27.

Rebels’ promoter Debbie Hancock said: “We wanted to get our 2015 season under way with a top quality challenge match, and clubs don’t come much bigger than Poole, who won the Elite League Championship last season.

“Although Poole have yet to complete their team for the new season, club promoter Matt Ford has said that he will be bringing a full strength Pirates septet, which will hopefully include the 2012 World Champion, Chris Holder, as well as the likes of Davey Watt, Dakota North and ex-Rebel Kyle Newman, to the Oaktree Arena for the match, so it promises to be a great occasion.

“We would now like for fans to come forward and help with tyre sponsorship for each of the riders taking part in the meeting, so anyone who is interested assisting in this respect can contact our marketing department (marketing@somersetrebels.co or 07598 186 695) for full details of this and other available sponsorship opportunities.”
