SOMERSET Rebels kicked off the new season with a 47-43 victory over Peterborough Panthers in the Premier League Cup.

Josh Grajczonek put in a true Captain’s innings, dropping only a single point to an opponent, and topping off the meeting with his exceptional Heat 15 ride.

He was ably supported by Brady Kurtz, with an 11-point haul, but in truth every member of the team contributed to the victory in some part, with the exception of the unfortunate Benji Compton, whose second ride crash took away his chance of being part of the win.

Thankfully he has suffered no lasting damage, and should return on Friday.

The Rebels will need to be at the top of their game for next Friday’s match, as they take on the top team in the country.

They will take on the Elite League Champions, the Poole Pirates, in a special challenge match to open the 2015 season at the Oak Tree Arena.
