AFTER a break last Friday, the Somerset Rebels return to home action with the visit of the Workington Comets to the Oaktree Arena on Friday (June 19) night in Premier League action.

Some very special guests will be in attendance with the meeting being in support of Santa-On-A-Bike, of whom the Rebels are official patrons.

Somerset will be facing a Workington side which has yet to get into stride this year, with their fixtures having been disrupted by adverse weather - the Comets have only completed five Premier League matches, the lowest of any of the 13 clubs in the Premier League and as a result sit third bottom in the league table.

Somerset team manager Garry May said: “Despite having had a bit of a break from action, we are still top of the Premier League table, and it goes without saying that we will be looking to extend our lead with victory over Workington in Friday night’s match.

“I know that the boys are all raring to get back in action at the Oaktree Arena, but I am sure that Workington will give us a good test, they might currently be near the bottom of the league table, but with them having only ridden five matches, it is a bit of a false position, so we will not be taking anything for granted come Friday night.”

With Friday night’s meeting against Workington being in support of Santa-On-A-Bike, there will be a number from the fund-raising group in attendance for the match in order to raise awareness of the group’s activities and fund-raising work.

They will be complete in their Santa outfits and with bikes decked out in Christmas attire to undertake a pre-meeting parade, before going amongst the crowd with their collection buckets ahead of their inaugural Summer Run which is being staged on Sunday (June 21).
