BERROW tasted defeat in the league for the first time this season at home to a determined Ilminster side.
The home side started slowly and suffered a blow when top scorer Connor Watts had to be replaced by Luke Morgan with a hamstring problem.
Their usual passing game was not coming off and they were at their most dangerous from the set pieces of Luke McErlain with Josh White and Ben Robertson both going close before Ilminster took the lead when there rangy striker scored at the front post from a corner.
Berrow still struggled to pass the ball but continued to look dangerous from set pieces, Ellis Harper having a volley deflected onto the cross bar and white again coming close.
Ilminster nearly 2-0 before half time but Robertson cleared off the line when a goal seemed certain.
The second half began with Berrow on top but they were punished 15 minutess in when Ilminster scored again. This finally woke Berrow up and captain Jeff Read lead from the front as Ian Bellinger got into the box and went down to win a penalty which was converted by Read.
Berrow equalised when a McErlain cross was fumbled by the keeper for Morgan to head home. But Ilminster scored a late winner to become the first team to take points of Berrow this season.
