Highbridge Town put on a brave show at league leaders Staplegrove

HIGHBRIDGE Town held off leaders of the Taunton and District Saturday League Staplegrove until just before half-time but were unable to pick up a share of the points.

Town remained solid at the back until the 41st minute when the table toppers netted. Unfortunately they were unable to get back into the match in the second half and fell to a 3-1 defeat, as Rich Cattell made a return, as Burnham did not have a game, to come off the bench and grab a consolation.

The team are at home to Bishops Lydeard Reserves in the Somerset Junior Cup this Saturday for a 1.45pm kick off.

Meanwhile, the Reserves were unable to tie down opponents Wembdon as they suffered a 6-0 defeat. They are in Division Three league action at Bishops Hull on Saturday for a 2.30pm kick off.
