BURNHAM United knew they were going to have to work hard in this top-of-the-table clash, particularly as they were down to the bare 11 players.

They were out of the blocks quickly and were 1-0 up in the first minute after a cross by Harding found Kidner who made no mistake.

The second goal came shortly after from a wonder strike by Harding from 30 yards out, giving the Portishead goalkeeper no chance.

After 15 minutes United made it 3-0 with a fine pass finding striker Rosser who made no mistake from close range.

Portishead had the majority of possession for the rest of the half but the back four of Hughes, White, Costello and Durrant were superb throughout and, when called upon, Manlow was as reliable as ever.

The second half saw Rosser score his second before completing his hat-trick from a fine solo effort 15 minutes before the end to take themselves to two points behind Division 1 leaders Portishead with two games in hand.
