Preparations in full swing ahead of the weekend's Brean Rally
RALLYING is set to return to the Brean Leisure Park over the weekend with the running of the South West's annual premier rally, the K&R Mitsubishi Stages.
An impressive 80 plus entries line up for the Saturday start, with no less than five World Rally Cars among the top seeds.
Six stages will be completed throughout Saturday with a further six stages on Sunday and an added Trophy Rally incorporating those competitors who were unfortunate to retire from the rally on the Saturday stages.
The rally, which was awarded the coveted South West 'Rally of the Year' in 2011, has grown in stature and popularity since it's inception in 1997 and now attracts some of the sports leading clubmen from around the UK competing in a wide range of cars.
It will again be the opening round of two major regional championship series, the Association of South Western Motor Clubs and the Cotswold Motor Sport Group.
Top seeds for this years event are, Peter Lloyd from South Wales driving a Subaru Impreza S14 WRC. He has won this event over the last four consecutive years and will be out to make it a fifth.
Technical scrutinising of the cars takes place within the park on Friday afternoon, with the rally getting under way at 10am on Saturday morning.
Spectators will be admitted to the park over both days of the rally with an admission charge of just £5 (accompanied children under 12 will be admitted free) and car parking will be £5. Gates open on both days from 8.30am.
