JUNE England scored two as Burnham got back to winning ways against a physical Minehead team.

England scored two second half goals to move her side a point off Taunton at the top of the table.

The result also avenged the previous away fixture against the seasiders when they let slip a 2-0 lead.

The home side struggled to get their passing going and looked off the pace for the majority of the first half.

Nicki Glanville and Carly Bush had shots saved whilst Alannah Frost and Kerry Harvey had efforts blocked.

England worked tirelessly up front all game and linked well with Bush and Harvey.

It was more of the same in the second half - Burnham's defence of Glanville, Beth Ingram and Emma Ballard were superb throughout with Ballard making a starring return to the side and with Tracey Dunn sitting just in front were largely untroubled.

Just when it appeared the match was heading for a draw, up popped England to drive home a shot from the top of the D for the first of a quick double.

Burnham ‘keeper Sarah Johnson then preserved their lead with three outstanding saves which allowed Burnham to press on for another goal to make it safe.

This time it was Louise Peace raiding down the right as she had done all match and Harvey with the shot that England flicked in from right on the goal line.

The ladies travel to Weston on Saturday (February 9).
