Sedgemoor Division Two
Weston 4, Burnham Ladies 1
BURNHAM suffered a rare defeat at the hands of opposition that beat them in their first game of the season.
They were slow to get going and second to every ball as Weston appeared to be that bit hungrier, particularly in the first half.Despite welcoming their regular goalkeeper Sian Kelly back and four strong in defence, Burnham conceded three goals in quick succession in a bad spell mid way through the first half.
Alannah Frost showed flashes of inspiration with some impressive dribbling and went close with a sweeping shot from the top D.
June England and Kerry Harvey went close before Tracey Dunn saw her penalty corner saved right on the goal line.Even a break-away Weston goal did not deter them and Carly Bush continued driving them on.
However, they were only rewarded with a goal their second half performance deserved right at the end of the match as England got on the score sheet with a skilful reverse stick strike after good play by Bush and Fisher to set her up.
Player of the match was Beth Ingram, sponsored by The Rosewood PH.
Their next match is away to White Eagles on Saturday at 10am. New players are always welcome, contact Carly Bush on 07789-767804 for more.
