Somerset 2S

Somerton 29, Burnham II 7

BURNHAM were unable to replicate their win earlier in the season against Somerton as the home side got revenge with a 29-7 victory.

The game, played in poor conditions, suited the home team and they scored in the first five minutes to give themselves a 7-0 lead.

Burnham allowed Somerton to use their bulk in the loose and force the errors and it was this persistent pressure that gave the home team a 17-0 lead at half time.

In the second half, Burnham came back into the game and after good work from Mike Nash and Will Conway, the ball fell to Whitfield who ran a superb line and hit the gap to score under the post which Conway converted to make it 17-7.

This did spur the visitors on but persistent handling errors allowed the home side to run in another two tries with one conversion giving a final score on 29-7.

The seconds are home this Saturday to Wiveliscombe. Kick-off is at 2.30pm.
