The first Junior Tennis Tournaments of the year took place on Sunday with four players competing for the Red Trophy (Under 8's) and seven competition in the Orange Trophy (under 10's) at the Avenue Tennis Club.

Four red players played two games of ten points against each other which saw Ben Jones from the Bristol Lawn Tennis Club winning the event with five out six wins.

Head Coach Vinny Duddy said it was really nice to see three players from the Avenue providing some stiff competition with Adam Webb competing in his first ever tournament ending up second, Lydia Menear taking a match of the eventual winner in only her second tournament along with Samuel Lodge.

The afternoon event saw seven players playing out some fantastic matches.

Duddy said the standard of the tennis was good but it was even better to see the commitment from the players to turn up and play in the cold weather conditions.

The next competitions are scheduled for the March 24.
