Honours even as Berrow draw at Yatton

YATTON 0 BERROW 0
BERROW picked up a point and clean sheet from a game they probably should have won at Yatton.
Scott Lismore and Pete John made their first starts of the season after injury and Jeff Read also returned after suspension.
Captain Luke McErlain was missing through suspension, Luke Morgan through injury and Ellis Harper and Jason Kilduff through unavailability.
In an even first half with defences generally on top, it was Yatton who threatened first after a good move from the right led to a shot from the edge of the box, but it was comfortably saved by keeper Nick Slack.
Ross McErlain then played Dax Vincent in behind the left back, and after a great first touch his shot was pushed onto the post by the home keeper.
Berrow then thought they should have had a penalty when Jack Taylor was pulled back in the box, but the referee allowed play to continue.
Taylor was then put clear by Lismore, but a brilliant last ditch tackle denied him. Berrow began the second half well and put Yatton under a lot of pressure.
Ross McErlain volleyed just over after a cross from Steve Osgood, and Phil Hartnup put Taylor through on goal, only for him to be denied by a late flag from the linesman.
Despite a lot of possession and some good football, Berrow were struggling to create a clear cut chance.
Dave Keirle replaced a tiring Lismore, but it was Yatton who thought they should have taken the lead when the referee blew for a foul on Slack.
Both teams pushed forward and the game was end to end. Read had a header cleared off the line before a chance at the back post for Vincent was blocked.
Slack tipped a goal bound shot over and at the other end; Keirle went close with a chip.
The last chance fell to Ross McErlain, but his mazy run was ended with a superb last-ditch tackle.
