CRAIG Wheelaghan and his father Gordy teamed up to win the Pairs Aggregate Medal by some distance on Saturday.

The younger Wheelaghan produced the round of the day with a stunning nett 62 which rapidly reduced his handicap by a couple of shots to 14.

With this not surprisingly being the best score of the event by five strokes they looked likely winners but this was confirmed as Gordy ended in that group of players 5 shots behind his son.

Their total of 129 was never going to be beaten and gave them a seven stroke winning margin over another family duo in the Jones brothers, Steve and Paul.

Steve led the way with a 67 whilst Captain Elect Paul also beat his handicap with a nett 69.

Third spot was decided on countback with Murray Parsons (73) and Russell Shaw (67) having the better back nine score over Dave Bradley (68) and Mo Sanders (72).

HOT on the heels of his win on Saturday, Gordy Wheelaghan was immediately back in the winners enclosure just 24 hours later as he won Division Three of the Monthly Stableford.

His 40 point card was two ahead of runner up Dai Wood.

The best scoring of the day which got off to a frozen start with the early frost came in the middle Division.

Close friends and playing partners Jerry Brueford and Roy Fletcher matched each other shot for shot with Brueford just getting the verdict for Division Two on countback.

Mark Hatfield claimed Division One glory with 38 points one clear of Paul McLanaghan in second position.

Mike Allen won the January Seniors Medal in a close finish with Pete Douglas.

Both players returned nett 68's but the countback gave victory to Allen with the better back nine score.

George Stratford was third on a 69 also after a countback with Barrie Tucker who matched that number.
