NEW 2014 Somerset Rebels signing, Brady Kurtz finished seventh in the Australian Under-21 Championship which was held at Gillman Raceway, South Australia on Saturday.

Kurtz started the meeting well in winning his first two races, and went into his ffith and final ride in the qualifying heats with nine points to his name.

Disaster then struck as the 17 year-old fell in his final ride, which earned him an exclusion from the re-run - but his nine-point total was still sufficient for him to make it through to the 'B' Final.

The winner of which would join the top three scorers from the 20 qualifying heats, Nick Morris, Ryan Douglas and defending Champion, Max Fricke, in the Grand Final. However, the after-effects of his fall were sufficient for Brady to decline his place in the 'B' Final, as Jack Holder took the race win to progress through the complete the Grand Final line-up, leaving him in seventh place overall. After scoring a 15-point maximum from his qualifying rides, Nick Morris looked to be the favourite for the title, but he fell giving chase to leader, Edinburgh's Max Fricke.

As the pair raced towards the finishing line, Fricke collected his second successive Australian Under-21 Championship title.
