ADRIAN Deakins won the Burnham & Berrow Golf Club Stableford last Saturday.

Adrian, who plays off one handicap and is Captain-Elect this year at Burnham & Berrow, made the most of the more favourable weather conditions in the morning, racing to the turn in a gross two under par 34 for 21 points.

Turning into the back nine with the wind picking up all the time, conditions deteriorated with weather comparable to the previous weekend – and, with blustery showers, scoring became extremely difficult.

Finishing with 34, Adrian managed to push two of the up-and-coming juniors – Charlie Huggins and Miles Richardson – into second and third places, respectively.

John Nuttall, who won the January Medal just two weeks ago, was in form once again, taking victory in Division 2 with just 30 points, highlighting just how difficult the weather conditions became.

The weather did not provide any difficulty for 17-year-old junior member Lewis Norton-Collins – scoring his first ever hole in one from 155 yards at the par three ninth hole with an eight iron.

The final of Charles Parry Foursomes Knockout was played in better weather conditions on Sunday, with Peter Gilraine and Adrian Beaumont claiming victory with a 6&5 win over Frank Ryan and Alex Kidd.
