Burnham 38, Paignton 7

STUART Blake scored twice as six-try Burnham cruised to a 38-7 victory over Paington on Saturday.

Hayden Tuttiett, Alan House, Tom Chaffey and a penalty try completed the scoring for Burnham, who still hold faint hopes of earning a place in the play-offs.

Tuttiett opened the scoring for the home side when he darted down the blind side following three quick phases.

The scrum-half evaded two tackles on his way to the line to give Burnham the ideal start.

Alan House added a second shortly after when he powered over from close range with the referee playing advantage for offside.

Jake Ridgewood latched on to a bouncing ball to pull a score back for Paignton, but a penalty try cancelled it out after too many indiscretions close to the line.

It was more of the same after the half-time break, as Stuart Blake touched down at the back of a juggernaut scrimmage to register the bonus-point for Burnham.

Piper added the extras to extend the lead further – and try number five wasn’t far away.

In fact, straight from the kick-off, Mike Hocking powered through the defence before feeding Sam Coles, who was tackled short of the line.

But the ball was recycled quickly and eventually found Tom Chaffey who slid over in the corner.

Blake registered his second as Burnham’s powerful pack sprung into action once again with a pushover – and that was how it finished, with Burnham deserved winners.
