IT WAS goals galore in this weekend’s Uxella Bridgwater & District Sunday League fixtures, with 45 goals scored in just eight matches.
Blake Old Boys booked their place in the third round of the Dave Hobbs Cup with a 4-2 victory North Petherton. Josh Speed scored two, while Jody Bilton and an own goal accounted for the others.
Lewis Jordan bagged both for Pethy.
Grasshoppers beat Maltshovel 2-1 thanks to goals from Chris Lynham and Mattie Winter; Jamie Temlett replied for Shovel.
Pawlett Rebels were 4-2 winners at Puriton, with Ben Sheffel scoring a brace.
Justin Cooke and Will Longsdale scored goals three and four, while Josh Champion and Greg Turner were on target for Puriton.
Flag Old Boys cruised past Huntspill BPH with a 6-0 thrashing.
In this week’s Mercury Big Match, Highburn were 4-1 winners at Knowle in the semi-final of the John Morrell Cup – see page 42.
Red Tile Reserves beat Cobblestones 3-0 in the other semi final – and in league action, Cornhill hammered Ramblers 6-2 in Division Two.
