Taunton & District League Division 1

Highbridge Town 1, Sampford Blues 2

HIGHBRIDGE Town missed the chance to go six points clear at the top of the table with a defeat at home to Sampford Blues on Saturday.

Luke Perry scored twice in the first half for Sampford to give his side a good lead but Highbridge Town responded in the second period with a Stuart Green wonder goal to make the last 25 minutes exciting.

But, despite Town pressing for the equaliser, third-in-the-table Blues held on for the win.

Highbridge faced the tough trip to Bishops Lydeard on Tuesday night, then travel to Taunton tonight (Thursday) to play Locomotives.

On Saturday, they entertain Staplegrove Reserves.

Taunton & District League Division 3

Highbridge Town Res 4, Redgate 2

HIGHBRIDGE Town Reserves recorded only their second win of the season with a 4-2 triumph over fellow strugglers Redgate.

Mike Green scored twice for Highbridge, while Mark Chapman and Bryn Pearce completed the scoring to end a run of ten straight defeats.

The victory brings a close to a disappointing season for Highbridge Reserves. Having won only two out of 18 games, they are relegated to Division 4.
