HIGHBRIDGE Town remain three points clear at the top of Division Onein the Taunton & District Saturday League after two wins from three games last week.

They were 4-2 winners over Staplegrove on Saturday thanks to goals from Stuart Green, Ryan Elliott and Will Bailey, while Mark Willis and Chris Hadley replied for Grove.

But they didn’t have it all their own way midweek and went down 1-0 to title rivals Locomotives on Thursday, courtesy of an own goal in the second half.

This defeat followed a 3-0 win at Bishops Lydeard on Tuesday night – Simon Fouracre netted twice for Town, while Tom Bailey added a third to seal the win.

Highbridge face another test this weekend as they take on Middlezoy Rovers Reserves, knowing a win could all but seal the Division One title.

Second placed Locomotives are three points behind the leaders, with an inferior goal difference.

A defeat for Locos would hand the title to Highbridge Town.

n BURNHAM United Reserves still need two points to guarantee their place in Division Two West of the Errea County League after a 5-0 defeat at home Worle.

Ryan Hodrien scored four times for the visitors as they condemned Burnham to their 22nd defeat of the campaign.

They now sit five points clear of the bottom two, with three games to play.

Second from bottom Churchill trail them by five points, with just two games to play.
