DESPITE failing to score on one hole, Mike Chaloner spread-eagled the field with a stunning round of 46pts in the Super Series Stableford on Saturday.

His card was littered with nett birdies and eagles as he won by 4pts from Neil Barker.

Third place was decided by countback after both Stewart Garrett and John Mardon posted 41 point scores.

Garrett just got the nod with a better back nine for the final prize.

Saturday was a busy day at Brean with two other events happening as well.

Ladies Captain Annie Williams and Tony Roper retained the Jubilee Plate Greensomes for the second year running.

Their amazing score of 47 pts in 2013 was not to be repeated and a countback was required for them to see off Gail and Steve Mason this time around.

Despite neither pair scoring any points on the final hole of their 35 point cards, it was the Williams/Roper duo had the better inward half to take first position. Third place on 32 points was Roger and Jenny Vaughan.

The final event saw the Division Two Avalon League team face Vivary Park at home in their penultimate home game of the campaign.

Young guns Phil Hodgson and Tom Broom secured the biggest winning margin of the day as the homesters prevailed by 3.5 games to 1.5.
