THE Luffs of Lympsham were at it again at the weekend as siblings Jack and Sophie shared an unbroken partnership of 189 to see their side to victory over Fitzhead.

Lympsham joined the Somerset League this season and were placed in Division 4, and after their victory at the weekend they remain top of the table and on track for promotion.

Chasing a respectable 239 for victory, Lympsham slipped to 50-3 before 18-year-old Jack, who skippers the side, was joined by his 20-year-old sister, Sophie, who also plays for Somerset Women and has represented England at Under-19 level.

Brother and sister started rebuilding the innings before upping the run rate and reaching their target off the penultimate ball of the 41st over.

Jack ended unbeaten on 154 – his season’s best – which came off 122 balls with 18 fours and eight sixes.

Sophie was happy to play the anchor role and ended up not out on 42.

Jack is enjoying a hugely successful season, and so far in all formats of the game for the club he has accumulated 1,251 runs at an average of 54.39, including eight innings over 50 and one century.

As if that wasn’t enough, he has also taken 62 wickets at an average of 9.52 with a staggering best return of six wickets for one run.

Sophie has played three games for Lympsham this season and averages 81.
