LYMPSHAM 2nd XI ensured a second place finish in Division 9NW of the Somerset Cricket League, with a five-wicket victory over Lydford on Saturday.
S. Bruce (66no) and R. Simpson (57) led the Lympsham charge, as they chased down 190 in comfortable fashion.
Earlier, S. Bailey (4-23) had been the pick of the bowlers to dismiss Lydford for below 200, before the batsmen got to work.
In Division 9SE, Wedmore 2nd XI’s season ended on a low note with a six-wicket defeat to Broadway & Horton.
R. Gamlin (70) played a lone hand for Wedmore as they posted just 115 all out batting first – and the visitors cruised to victory with six wickets in hand, despite one wicket apiece for R. Hale (1-22), R. Gamlin (1-24) and T. Ingle (1-40).
Wedmore 1st XI first team suffered a similar fate in Division 3, slumping to a six-wicket reverse against Wincanton.
A. Cook (38) and Phil Patch (23) top scored for Wedmore in a total of 102 all out, leaving Wincanton with a straight forward chase.
N. Emery (2-28) claimed two wickets for Wedmore, but it wasn’t enough to change the course.
In Division 5, East Huntspill 2nd XI signed off the season with a 110-run victory over Cheddar II.
R. Pomeroy (44) and M. Crook (32) starred with the bat as East were all out for 197, before A. Penwill (3-12), I. Phillips (3-15) and K. Stamp (3-27) joined forces to bowl Cheddar out for just 87.
