Cheltenham 27, Burnham on Sea 12

BURNHAM put in a disappointing performance to go down 27-12 at Cheltenham on Saturday.

Jordyn Wikiteria and Josh Holder crossed for Burnham's only points of the afternoon in a result that sees Cheltenham leap-frog them in the table.

Cheltenham started the stronger of the two sides, running in three tries in the opening period to take a commanding lead. Burnham eventually got their game together and after two strong driving mauls Jordyn Wikiteria powered his way over.

12 minutes later Jordan Paul set off on a powerful jinking run, before feeding Piper, who in turn fed Josh Holder to score out wide, successfully converted by Tom Chaffey.

In the dying minutes Burnham were pressing hard but in their eagerness to reduce the deficit even further, they were turned over close to Cheltenham's line, and the hosts went the length of the field to seal the game.

Head coach Graham Buller said he was frustrated of the lack of consistency, cohesion and comprehension of pre-set game plan.

Burnham have got the ability, but have to realise that they need to play for the whole game.

Next week Burnham are host to Old Bristolians and welcome their Old Boys Reunion Lunch.
