ROB Theodule scored twice as Huntspill BPH beat North Petherton 2-1 in Division 3 of the Uxella Bridgwater & District Sunday League in wet and windy conditions at Parkers Field.

Theodule’s double fired Huntspill into a 2-0 lead, before Josh Moore pulled a goal back for North Petherton.

Huntspill manager Simon Massingham said his side were pleased to get the win – and the boss was happy with the performance.

He said: “There was some great football played today and each and every man played their role well from beginning to end.

“There were a couple of sloppy moments that we as a team can, and will work on. As manager of Huntspill BPH, I am proud of each and every player today.

“I hope that from today’s win it’s the start of the winning streak we need.

“For me, all of the boys played well but man of the match goes to Gavin Riddle for his outstanding debut.”

Huntspill surged into a 2-0 half-time lead as Theodule scored two spectacular goals – the first a perfectly judged lob and the second an impressive free-kick.

On a sodden pitch at Parkers Field, both sides struggled to string passes together, but when Pethy eventually enjoyed a period of possession, Moore popped up to net his first goal for the club on his first appearance.

Pethy battled hard for an equaliser, but to no avail as Huntspill pulled away from the bottom two with the win.

Pethy remain rooted to the bottom with just one win all season.
