Somerset Two South
Burnham II 71, Wellington II 5
BURNHAM II put on an exhibition of attacking rugby to see off Wellington III in Saturday's Somerset Two South clash and record their eighth league victory of the season.
Burnham started off in very promising fashion, with the pack providing a good platform for the backs to work from.
A series of carries from the backs opened up a gap to enable James Osgood to cross the line, converted by Wills Conway.
Wellington came back into the game and loose play resulted in a turn over for Burnham, which saw a move orchestrated by Conway and Shaw on the right, to release Wilcox under the posts - again converted by Conway.
Matt Mitchell capitalised on a gap in midfield to score under the posts - and this was very quickly followed up by George Wilcox chasing down a loose ball and crossing, to add to his tally.
As the half drew to a close Burnham were now producing 15-man Rugby.
Burnham were playing much more flowing rugby and more good work within the pack from Ed Lewis and Henry Bigwood saw Ben Gibb on hand to scoop up and capitalise on any opportunity - of which he did so on three occasion in quick succession.
The dominance was evident and Ryan Maynard locked onto a loose ball to screech over for a fine solo effort.
The day's work was finished off by Sam Hall who bounded home in the corner.
Once Burnham had settled down, they played some very creditable rugby.
Wellington have to be congratulated for sustaining the effort throughout the game.
The next outing for Burnham II is on Saturday at home to league leaders Wiveliscombe.
