THE Highbridge & District Skittles League’s Knock-Out Cup Final will be contested by Division 1 sides Cowboys and The Poachers.

Cowboys cruised past Division 3 side Why Try?, winning by 55 pins after they scored 527 at the Lighouse Inn. Jack Luff 79, Brian Gooding 71, Paul Edwards 71 and Darren Cornish 70 were the main contributors.

Why Try?, despite starting with an opening hand of 84, struggled to find their form and were no match for Cowboys.

The other semi-final was a much closer affair with The Poachers prevailing by 10 pins at the Victoria Hotel as they defeated Division 2 side Hedgejumpers. Daniel Griffiths topped the board for The Poachers with 68.

The Second Chance Cup Final with also be an all Division 1 affair, and will be played between stablemates Steamers and Shunters who both play at the Victoria Hotel.

Shunters defeated Radio Social by 30 at the Basonbridge Inn – the Kevins, Butt 80 and Crenol 70, were the difference between the teams.

In the other semifinal, Division 4 side the Lymp Dicks couldn’t rise to the occasion as they went down by 49 to Steamers at the Ritz Social Club. Stuart Pople 74 and Graham Blake 70 topped the board.

The annual interleague match between the H&DSL and the Weston Central league will take place this Saturday (March 7), with the first leg at the Lamb Inn, Worle.

This will be the 25th anniversary of the match for the George White Memorial Trophy – both leagues have 12 wins a piece, so this year will be a bit special.
