Sedgemoor Two

Burnham 12, Winscombe 1

BURNHAM appear to have secured third place in the league after this emphatic win against a young Winscombe team.

Carly Bush opened the scoring with a well placed shot from a tight angle that nestled in the far corner.

Sarah Johnson quickly added to it stabbing home on the post after a well worked penalty corner.

Winscombe pulled one back after a quick breakaway but Amy Edmundson restored the two-goal lead with her first of many with a beautiful pushed goal.

The outstanding Kerry Harvey scored a well deserved goal after her initial shot was saved and she converted the rebound, before Johnson tapped in from right on the goal line.

Harvey made it six before half time with a really well worked team goal.

Sam Course took a quick free hit from defence and found Caroline Hunt whose first time ball put Harvey through to push it past the GK.

Buoyed on by their supporters, Winscombe rallied at the start of the second half and pressurised Burnham into some panicky play - fortunately Emma Ballard was alert to the danger with some last ditch tackles and GK Sian Kelly backed her up with some good saves.

Having weathered the storm Edmundson saw her shot deflected but managed to put in the rebound as Burnham took control again and never looked back.

Caroline Hunt capped a fine display with a goal she created herself.

Having intercepted a Winscombe free hit she drove through into the D and smashed it in the corner.

Edmundson then lifted a sweet strike past the gk before slipping in her fourth after good work in the D from Bush.

Emma Jarrett then played a perfect pass through to Bush on the left side of the D who purposely chipped it past the GK for her second of the match.

June England finally got on the score sheet towards the end with a poachers goal on the post following Harvey's shot at a penalty corner.
